Member Spotlight: Winifred Bragg, MD

Author of new book,
“KnockoutPain®:  Secrets to Maintain a Healthy Back”

This month we are pleased to shine our TR SIG member spotlight on Winifred Bragg, MD, Medical Director of the Spine and Orthopedic Pain Center with offices in Norfolk and Chesapeake, Virginia. A nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Bragg has been featured on ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX and quoted as an expert in Redbook, Women’s World, Weight Watcher’s Magazine, and Self Magazine.

Dr. Bragg is an expert in providing non-surgical treatment for injuries and pain resulting from spinal and orthopedic conditions.

Dr. Bragg has treated thousands of patients with low back pain over the past 20 years. She recently authored theTele book, “KnockoutPain®: Secrets to Maintain a Healthy Back.“

The book was written to educate patients, nurses, primary care physicians and rehabilitation therapists about the symptoms and causes of low back pain. It offers Dr. Bragg’s proven strategies for pain relief and facilitates development of a specific treatment plan and home exercise program based on the patient’s diagnosis. It also can be used to improve dialogue between the patient and his/her health care provider.

We asked Dr. Bragg what motivated her to write a book about pain. Her response, “I wrote the book to make patients and other healthcare providers aware of non-surgical options to treat back pain. Too often, I see patients who had surgery without first exploring viable non-surgical options. Statistics show that surgery should only be done 5% of the time.”

As it relates to telehealth, Dr. Bragg states, “telehealth technologies provide a perfect forum for patient education and to consult with nurses and therapists on how to care for the spine. By monitoring exercise programs, better outcomes can be achieved to maintain a healthy back.”

Knockoutpain®Secrets to Maintain a Healthy Back can be purchased at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

It is also available in a Kindle version so readers can carry it with them wherever they go.
